Story
Chu Lo is an alcohol-free, Japanese-style sour soda, founded in Manchester by Steph, a former Royal Navy captain.
From the Royal Navy to sour soda
Steph served in the Royal Navy for 12 years and was captain of a ship at 25. On deployment in the Far East she discovered Japan's sour drinks: lemon sours and chuhai that are sharp, fruity and refreshing rather than sugary. Back home in the UK there was nothing like them without the alcohol, so she set out to make one.
What makes Chu Lo different
Chu Lo is super sour, never syrupy. Every can is 0% alcohol, made with real fruit juice, contains around 4.5g of sugar per 100ml and is vegan and gluten-free. It's made in the UK and comes in Cherry, Apple, Peach, Lemon and Tropical Fruit, with Cherry and Apple our bestsellers.
Where you'll find Chu Lo
Chu Lo launched internationally in its first year. Steph took the brand to the final of Gordon Ramsay's Future Food Stars on BBC One, and today Chu Lo is stocked in Co-op stores across the UK, served in Japanese and Asian restaurants, and sold online at chu-lo.com.
